U.S. States Basketball Writers Association
ST. LOUIS (USBWA) - The U.S. States Basketball Writers Association will release its 2008-09 men\‘s honors over the next three weeks. Following are the release dates:
· Tues., March 10: All-District Teams
· Mon., March 16: All-America Team
· Mon., March 23: Henry Iba Award (National Coach of the Year)
· Mon., March 30: Oscar Robertson Trophy (National Player of the Year)
· Mon., March 16: All-America Team
· Mon., March 23: Henry Iba Award (National Coach of the Year)
· Mon., March 30: Oscar Robertson Trophy (National Player of the Year)
The winners of the Henry Iba Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy will be honored at the USBWA\‘s annual awards breakfast on Friday, April 3 at the downtown Detroit Athletic Club in conjunction with the Men\‘s Final Four. The breakfast will also honor the winner of the Henry Iba Award, the association\‘s coach of the year, as well as the 1979 Michigan State national championship team that was led by Earvin \“Magic\” Johnson.
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then-NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. Today, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball.
