Chicago 2016 Announces Media Accreditation for International Olympic Committee Evaluation Commission Visit

International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission visit in Chicago, April 2-8

CHICAGO (March 3, 2009)—As part of Chicago 2016’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the bid committee announced today that media accreditation requests are now being accepted for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission visit in Chicago, April 2-8. The Evaluation Commission is made up of IOC members and subject matter experts.

The Evaluation Commission will meet with Chicago 2016 to discuss the Candidature File and will conduct site visits of the proposed venues. As part of this important milestone in the bidding process, Chicago 2016 will also welcome national and international journalists to Chicago to share Chicago 2016’s plan for the Games.

“Following the submission of our Candidature File to the IOC last month, we are excited to welcome journalists from around the world to Chicago to show them our plan for the Games and introduce them to all our city has to offer the world in 2016,” said Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016.

The format of the Evaluation Commission visit allows media a daily photo opportunity and press briefings, as well as a tour of the proposed venues.  The visit will conclude with a press conference with the IOC Evaluation Commission members and the Chicago 2016 bid committee.

All members of the media require official accreditation for the Evaluation Commission visit and must complete the Chicago 2016 Media Accreditation Application by March 23, 2009.   Please note all accreditations are subject to approval by Chicago 2016.
