GHANA'S SECOND LADY, CELEBRATED ACTRESS JOINS ICGG

The wife of Ghana's Vice President Lordina Mahama together with Ghana's celebrated actress Nadia Buari have joined ICGG

The wife of Ghana’s Vice President Lordina Mahama together with Ghana’s celebrated actress Nadia Buari have joined the International Children Games Ghana fraternity as Eminent Patron and Goodwill Ambassador respectively to contribute their quota in using sports as a tool for women’s empowerment in Ghana. 
The Gender and Sports Development Project of the International Children Games Ghana advocate for and create sports for gender equality and uses sports as a strategy to empower women and girls in Ghana. The project uses football and basketball to develop essential life skills, confidence, leadership, and self esteem of vulnerable young women. Football and basketball also provides a unique entry point for reproductive health, human rights and economic empowerment initiatives. We believe that engaging in football and basketball promotes development goals, empower them and break stereotypes whiles transforming gender norms.

The chairperson of the board of International Children Games Ghana Audrey Addo Mensah said International Children Games Ghana as a women’s led organisation was delighted to see more prominent women coming into the fold of International Children Games Ghana at the time of its growth and expansion.

The International Children Games Ghana was founded by current President Kwaku Kyei. He is an International Development Consultant and a member of the Clinton Global Initiative.ICGG is part of the Worldwide International Children Games Movement a recognized member of the International Olympics Committee which was formed in 1968 using sports to promote peace and friendship to the world youth since then the International Children Game which has become the world’s largest international multi-sport youth games and has been nominated for the noble peace prize has seen the participation of over 50,000 children representing nearly 200 cities and 100 countries.

Started in Ghana in the year 2003, it is a model program that unlike other football programs combines instructional football training with mentoring by caring adults from various backgrounds and expertise. Using leadership by example, where adults mentor young adults and young adults mentor teens and teens mentor younger children.

The International Children’s Games Ghana has served over 1500 boys and girls providing quality vacation programs that are both entertaining and informative. We have serve children between the ages of 9 and 18, who are at risk to crime, HIV/AIDS, drugs, and gangs.
