Men's Pro Soccer Set To Return to Indianapolis
FC Indiana to field a men's professional team
FC Indiana men’s team will play in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) this season, the club has announced.
Indiana’s most successful men’s team, winners of four State Amateur Cups, three State Open Cups and two Indiana Premier Soccer League titles in the last 10 seasons, were one of two new teams to join the league for the 2009 season.
FC Indiana joins St. Paul TwinStar, Chicago Fire, Princeton 56ers and Milwaukee Bavarians in the Midwest Division where teams will play play an 8-game schedule, with the season scheduled to open May 1 and conclude in late July.
The NPSL, is a national league with 26 teams competing in five divisions. The league is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body for soccer in the United States and FIFA the world’s ruling body for soccer.
FC Indiana coach Jorge Eufracio said “We are building a foundation of professional soccer in Indianapolis and this team will have a greater impact on youth soccer in Indianapolis than any team has ever had.”
“Fielding women’s and men’s fully professional teams will allow FC Indiana to develop into a vertically integrated organization, facilitate and improve player development, and create economies of scale for year-round operations and community involvement. This in return will increase the value added benefits for the youth players, the community, the fans, and the team sponsors. We are excited and plan to put an explosive team on the field,” added Eufracio
