Anheuser-Busch extends LPGA sponsorship
Anheuser-Busch’s support of the LPGA comes via the Michelob ULTRA brand
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 19, 2008 – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and Anheuser-Busch today announced that Michelob ULTRA will continue as the official beer of the LPGA through 2009.
As an official sponsor of the LPGA, Anheuser-Busch and the LPGA have been working together since 1994, and are excited to continue their long-standing marketing relationship.
“We are proud to have Anheuser-Busch continue as an official sponsor of the LPGA,” said LPGA Chief Marketing Officer Bill Susetka. “For 15 years, we have had the pleasure of working together with Anheuser-Busch to grow their business and ours. With the LPGA fan base on the rise and the on-course performance never stronger, we look forward to continuing this successful relationship.”
Anheuser-Busch’s support of the LPGA comes via the Michelob ULTRA brand, which appeals to adult beer drinkers who lead active lifestyles, making the brand a perfect fit for adult fans of the LPGA. Through its sponsorship of the LPGA, Michelob ULTRA reaches fans via promotions on LPGA.com, Michelob ULTRA 19th Hole hospitality programs at select LPGA Tour events and at retail with LPGA-themed point of sale materials and advertising.
“The talent level and excitement of the LPGA Tour continues to attract fans to the game of golf,” said Kathy Casso, Senior Director of Sports Marketing, Anheuser-Busch. “Our relationship with the LPGA Tour continues to be a good fit for our Michelob ULTRA brand.”
Michelob ULTRA is the title sponsor of the LPGA Tour’s Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, played in May at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Va. In 2008, Annika Sorenstam earned her 72nd career LPGA Tour victory at the $2.2 million event, which is among the highest purses on the LPGA Tour.
