New envoys for the Madrid 16 bid

 

The members of the Spanish Basketball National Team, who are currently participating in the Eurobasket 2007 that is taking place in Madrid, have been appointed official envoys of the Madrid 16 Olympic bid. Accompanied by Mercedes Coghen, Madrid 16 CEO, the Spanish players have also voted for their favourite logo in the public contest to select the logo that will promote and represent the Spanish capital?s Olympic project all around the world.

?It is a great honour to count with such a huge support?, Mercedes Coghen has stated. ?From now on, we are going to collaborate with these new envoys that will spread our excitement about organizing the Olympic Games in Madrid?, she has added.

With their vote today, the current World Champions join the more than 70,000 people that have already voted to choose Madrid 16?s logo amongst the 10 finalists.

In order to take part in this election, which will last until September 23rd, the citizens can vote in any of the public exhibitions that have been installed in Cibeles Square, Entrevias and General Peron, as well as in several municipal sport centers, the Eurobasket Square and the Madrid Arena. It is also possible to vote through the City Council?s website (www.munimadrid.es/madrid16).
