JACKSON EARNS WNBA-RECORD FIFTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

SEATTLE, Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 ? Storm forward Lauren Jackson has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Aug. 13-19, the WNBA announced today. The honor is the 12th of Jackson?s career and WNBA-record fifth in 2007, surpassing the mark of four Player of the Week awards set by Lisa Leslie in her MVP campaign last summer.

Jackson averaged 25.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 2.0 spg and 2.5 bpg while leading the Storm to a 2-0 week and a three-game winning streak to close out the season. Jackson posted 32 points and 15 rebounds in the season finale vs. Los Angeles on 8/17, her league-leading 17th double-double of the season. That game marked Jackson?s ninth 30-point game of the season, breaking Diana Taurasi?s record of eight set last summer. It was also Jackson?s 17th career 30-point game, breaking Cynthia Cooper?s all-time record.

A seven-year veteran and the league?s MVP in 2003, Jackson is once again a frontrunner for the league?s highest individual honor. She finished the season as the league?s leading scorer at a career-high 23.8 ppg to join Cooper as the only players in league history to win the scoring title in three separate seasons, while also finishing first in rebounds (9.7 rpg), second in blocks (2.03 bpg), third in field-goal percentage (.519) and fifth in free-throw percentage (.883).
