CONFEDERATION COMING FOR AFRICAN SOFTBALL
A number of ISF national federations met recently in Lusaka, Zambia, to discuss the formation of a Confederation of African Softball. ISF VP/Africa Marumo Morule said, ?The initial stage to start the process is set and we hope to finalize later this year.?
Softball development in Africa is starting to take hold in a number of countries. Recent new ISF member federations in Africa include Burkina Faso, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, and Sierra Leone. ISF Development Commission Chairman Dale McMann said, ?We are providing as much support as needed to see that Africa becomes a more active participant in softball, allowing young boys and girls to play and enjoy the sport.?
The current number of countries that has a national softball federation as a member of the ISF is 130. Of those, 21 are in Africa. The full list can be viewed on the official ISF website. See Directory/Member Countries in the section called ?The ISF? at www.internationalsoftball.com.
