(SFC) Now that officials have paved the way for Los Angeles to host the 2028 Summer Olympics, the city is ready to bask in the glory of being the center of the sports world once again.

With news that the city will invest up to $160 million to increase participation and access to youth sports programs in the years leading up to the Games, it's a good time to highlight the venues that can host these events and other major sporting events across the city.

While many wait for the Games in anticipation, here is where they can enjoy the world of sports in the city today.

Dodger Stadium

Home to the Los Angeles Dodgers, this ballpark is a historical gem that has hosted many historical sporting moments in baseball. During baseball season, you will want to score tickets to this venue to catch all the action. There are also special events like Youth Days at the venue annually to help foster the talent of local baseball and softball leagues.

LA Memorial Coliseum

Recognized as a historical landmark for its role in hosting the Olympic Games not once - but twice, in 1932 and 1984 the Coliseum is now home to the University of Southern California Trojan football team. The university holds its home games at the venue where you can find many tailgaters on the lawns celebrating before games. The Coliseum will surely play a role in the next Olympic Games if history repeats itself.

Staples Center

If you've ever wanted to go to a Laker or Clipper game or even a hockey game with the LA Kings, Staples Center is the place to be. Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the venue is busy with sporting events as well as concerts and other events all year round. The venue is across from restaurants, bars and music venues which make it a great place for a night out on the town.

Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl is home to rival football team to the USC Trojans - the UCLA Bruins. It seats more than 88,000 and has been known for hosting major soccer events  such as the FIFA Women's World Cup and FIFA World Cup in the 90s. It has also hosted five Super Bowls. The iconic bowl is ideal for watching football games and for those who prefer other events at the venue it also hosts one of the best flea markets on the west coast.

Long Beach Marine Stadium

When you think of water sporting events, think of Long Beach Marine Stadium. The venue is not located in city of Los Angeles; it is actually in the city of Long Beach located in the southeastern corner of LA. However, it plays a key role in sporting events especially when it comes to the Olympic Games. Think dragon boat races, water skiing events and rowing contests - they all happen here. The venue is best known for hosting the 1932 rowing events for the Summer Olympics. It has played a key role in helping the Games when it comes to having rowing trials and is a great spot for youth water-based events.
