(SFC)  The IOC concluded the evaluation tour with good marks and high praise for the LA 2024 Olympic bid and found the existing venues and the two proposed university campuses for the Villages top rate.

IOC Commission Chair, Patrick Baumann, told the media at the end of the visit, "This is an incredible team and in this sense it is an incredible Olympic city."

Bauman was impressed with the amount of participation by the Olympians and Paralympians and affectionately coined the phrase "Dynamic Duo" and "84 Boys" referring to LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA 2024 chairman Casey Wasserman.

He said that they bring a very powerful combination of intelligence, enthusiasm and energy to this task. They channeled the excitement they felt when the Games last came to their city in an all-out effort to bring the Games back to the city in 2024.

Baumann said, "I have to admit that the enduring legacy of 1984 and the great leadership of LA 2024 are two factors for the strong public support for the candidacy here in Los Angeles.

"The commission members were almost ecstatic about the level of the venues that they found and they saw and they were able to speak with the people that manage the venues. It goes from spectacular venues, to impressive venues, to mind-blowing venues, and this is really positive because we have been able to see them."

Overall the impression came through that the IOC had found an equal partner in LA and now that the Evaluation Commission packs up and heads to Paris the game has become a lot more complicated and the pressure is on the French rival bid.

LA Mayor Garcetti added, "This is simple the IOC and LA have forged an incredible relationship twice before and it is not just a relationship that comes when the Olympics are here. It is an ongoing relationship that continues, since 1932 when we were Games changing with the first Olympic Village, in 1984 we had a great new model for that new Games.

Garcetti reiterated the value of having the Commission come here and see venues that since the 1932 Games are still in use and in good condition and they appreciated this fact. The same with many of the venues that are from the 1984 Games. There is a living concrete legacy from the past two Olympics.

He added, "We want to make sure that we focused on that sense of the excitement. We want every city in the world in 2025 to lineup and say the Olympics are something we want to have in our town too. That is the value proposition that we have for the Movement from Los Angeles. We can create that again just like we did in 1985. Just like we did in 1932 in the Great Depression when we got this Movement alive with our great partners in the IOC."

The IOC moves on to Paris for its evaluation tour but one thing is for sure, Paris has their work cut out for them after this very successful visit in America.
