(SFC) The IOC is starting its bid evaluation of Los Angeles with the Evaluation Commission led by Chairman Patrick Baumann. For the next three days the IOC team will be in LA then will travel to rival city Paris, France to spend three days there.

These working visits take place after the new three stage process has gotten underway and serve to gather information for the final report on each city that will be distributed publicly.

Chairman Baumann said, "We will discuss not only how hosting the games would meet the needs of athletes, but also how it would serve the cities' long-term goals for social and economic development.

""We have two excellent candidates. I and the other members of the Evaluation Commission are looking forward to learning more about their proposals and getting a first-hand look at the prospective venues. We will discuss not only how hosting the Games would meet the needs of athletes, but also how it would serve the cities' long-term goals for social and economic development."

"We want to see how the Olympic Games will take shape in 2024, we are not conducting an examination," he concluded.

The Commission is set to gather after both trips in Lausanne for a summit on the results of the evaluation process. The official report will be made public July 5th on the IOC website and expedited to all the IOC members.

The final decision on the host city will take place in September in Lima, Peru at the IOC Session.
