LA 2024 strengthens commitment to Women in Sport on International Women's Day

(SFC) To mark the United Nations International Women's Day, LA 2024 released a Women in Sport commitment titled "Equality, Excellence and Opportunity." This commitment will aid the bid in their mission to enable women throughout the Olympic movement to accomplish their goals both in life and sport.

"The Olympic Movement has made tremendous progress in recent years, driven forward by the IOC's Women in Sport initiatives. Now we believe that LA 2024 - the United States' first Games in a generation - can be the Olympic Movement's best partners for continuing this vital process of transformation. That is why LA 2024 took the unprecedented step of enshrining our Women in Sport policy in our official bid documentation and in our "Equality, Excellence, Opportunity" commitment," expressed LA 2024's Senior Advisor for Legacy, International Olympic Committee (IOC)Executive Board member, Honorary Member of the IOC Women in Sport Commission, and President Emeritus of the LA84 Foundation, Anita DeFrantz.

The commitment focuses on five critical points that will ensure that they accomplish their mission.

Firstly, LA 2024 will make certain that women's equality philosophy defined by global Women in Sport leaders stays connected to the Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOG) policy, culture, and strategy.

Secondly, the female staff from every level of the OCOG organization will be provided equal opportunities, along with ensuring a legacy of increased professional chances for women. LA 2024 will also work together with the United States Organizing Committee (USOC) to generate more officiating and training opportunities for female coaches, officials, and judges from around the world.

Thirdly, the LA 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will guarantee female athletes and women's teams will have the same service levels, resources, and opportunities as their male counterparts. Thus, all athletes will be treated the same and have the equal chance while competing at the Games.

Fourthly, LA 2024 will form a partnership with NBC and OBS to promote gender diversity and female athletes at the Games. Throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games, LA 2024 communications and marketing activities will include the Women in Sport message firmly and seamlessly.

Lastly, LA 2024 will ensure visibility, growth opportunities, and sponsorship dollars for women's sport. LA 2024 dedicated to forming the foundations for growth in participant and engagement for women's sport across the globe.

LA 2024 Vice Chair and Director of Athlete Relations, Janet Evans stated, "LA 2024 is incredibly fortunate to have gathered a leadership group of individuals who have made equality for women in sport their life's work. Our mission at LA 2024 is to equip women from across the Olympic Movement to fulfill their potential in every respect. LA 2024 will provide female athletes with the access to the elite training and recovery facilities, the top-class fields of play, and the career transition programs they need to excel. Their incredible performances will inspire the next generation of young women around the world to believe that anything is possible."
