Olympics: LA 2024 brings on Weber Shandwick to boost communications

(SFC) The Los Angeles 2024 Olympic bid has joined forces with global public relations agency Weber Shandwick to provide communications support internationally to reinforce its message to the Olympic Movement. LA is bidding against Paris to host the 2024 summer Games after Budapest dropped out of the race last week.

Weber Shandwick will work with the team of communications professionals at LA 2024, the United States Olympic Committee and global sport agency JTA (Jon Tibbs Associates), who are all striving bring the Games back to the United States for the first time in nearly three decades.

Weber Shandwick has a past track record of more than 20 years of successful communications work with winning bid cities some of the recent ones were namely Beijing 2022, Tokyo 2020 and Sochi 2014.

The communications giant plans to drive a proactive, international communications campaign in key markets around the world in the lead up to the vote. They also plan to bring a strong understanding of the pre-Games and Games-time communications environment in the new era of Olympic Agenda 2020.

The IOC will select their winning host city on September 13, 2017 in Lima, Peru.

**LAURA WALDEN has over twenty-five years of experience in the Olympic Movement, formerly at the European Olympic Committees with SportEurope under former IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge and IOC Member Mario Pescante. She worked with the Rome 2004 and Turin 2006 Olympic bids and also managed PR & media for Dr. Jacques Rogge during his campaign for the presidency.
