LA thrilled to be chosen for George Lucas' new Museum of Narrative Art

(SFC) The city of Los Angeles (LA) welcomes a new addition that will add to its vibrant and rich culture and arts landscape. Legendary filmmaker and entrepreneur, George Lucas has selection LA to be the home of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

LA is focusing on develping its culinary, cultural, fashion and creative arts talents as one of the frontrunner cities in the United States. Lookout New York, the City of Angels is gathering speed recreating itself as a cultural capital and targetting the younger millennial market. 

Lucas's long-planned museum will mix fine art with popular art while pushing the envelope of interactive digital media. It promises to be a groundbreaking experience for those that visit.

The museum will be privately funded by Lucas and will join three existing museums, including the National History Museum of Los Angeles County, California African American Museum, and California Science Center in the Exposition Park. It's expected to be completed by 2020.

LA 2024 bid leaders applauded Lucas for his choice of city and area. The Exposition Park is only a few steps away from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the planned Banc of California Stadium, which are both critical venues located in the proposed Downton Sports Park for the LA 2024 Games.

LA 2024 vows to draw inspiration from the city's rich culture and heritage to deliver a unique Games that will engage the next generation in LA and worldwide.

Chairman Wasserman concluded, "I want to thank Mayor Garcetti for never wavering in his belief and work to attract this museum and show the world the new LA. With the Lucas Museum, LA 2024 will weave our city's vibrant arts and culture scene into our Games to create a uniquely dynamic and enriching experience for all visitors in 2024."
