(SFC) A fixture of the yearly Golden Globe Awards weekend, the annual "Gold Meets Golden" event took place as Hollywood stars such as Naomi Campbell; Cuba Gooding Jr, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, and Christian Slater were joined by Olympian and Paralympian athletes. Olympians Simone Biles, Nadia Comaneci, Bart Conner, Ashton Easton; Paralympian Candace Cable; and other athletes attended the event to highlight the unity of Los Angeles (LA).

"2017 was our best event yet. These moments that occur between the Globes nominees and Gold medal Olympians, Paralympians and pro athletes are priceless, and we were able to take ten lucky athletes to the actual Golden Globes carpet where they elated TV and film stars who are equally impressed and inspired by their greatness," expressed "Gold Meets Golden" Co-Founder, Charley Cullen.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) presented the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards, which celebrates the best of television and film. The awards show is viewed by over 236 countries.

The awards show is just an example of the city's vast experience at hosting large-scale and world-class events that reach a worldwide audience. The event showcased LA's ability to bring together popular culture, sport, and entertainment to connect the next generation with the Olympic Movement.

LA 2024 Vice Chair and Director of Athlete Relations, Janet Evans stated, "Los Angeles is a city that lives and breathes the Olympic and Paralympic Games, so it's no surprise that even LA's most star-studded season of the year has an Olympic tie-in at 'Gold Meets Golden.' As we work towards the final host city election in Lima, Peru, we are excited to refine our Games plan and identify how we can best use LA's creative community to put athletes at the center of our Games and ensure they have an unforgettable experience."

LA 2024 can draw on these unique experiences and use the knowledge gained to deliver a truly unforgettable, diverse, and successful Olympic Games.

LA 2024 Chairman, Casey Wasserman concluded, "LA is known around the world as a capital of entertainment that speaks to the world's youth every day in their language and on their terms. The 'Gold Meets Golden' event gave us a small taste of what's possible when we harness Hollywood's power to communicate the positive values of sport and Olympism. LA 2024 has been committed from day one to tapping into our city's creativity and innovation to deliver a New Games for a new era, and we will continue to look to California's entertainment and technology industries to ensure that the 2024 Games will offer fans, athletes, and all members of the Olympic family an experience like no other."
