(SFC) Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti confirmed that President-Elect Donald Trump has lent his support for the Los Angeles 2024 Olympic Games summer bid during a phone call to discuss a number of points for the city.

Los Angeles is running against Budapest and Paris to host the summer Olympics.

The Mayor's office spokeswoman Connie Llanos said in a statement that Trump and Garcetti spoke Wednesday the first time after the November 8th election covering the bid plus a number of topics and "had a productive conversation about ways to expand infrastructure investments and opportunities in communities across America."

They did not touch on the topic of immigration however Garcetti emphasized "the important role that immigrants and immigration reform will play in L.A.'s  -- and the nation's -- long-term success."

A Democrat, Garcetti, supported Hillary Clinton and spoke out against Trump and questioned if his presidency would support for the bid.

Evidently now that Trump has secured the White House he sees the potential of the city of Los Angeles bringing back the Games to America after fourteen years following the Salt Lake City Games.

Former Salt Lake 2002 head Mitt Romney who ran for President against Barak Obama in 2012 is a candidate for Secretary of State and has met with Trump this past weekend.

The IOC will decide their host city for 2024 at the upcoming session in Lima, Peru next September.
