(SFC) The Rome 2024 Bid Committee has formed a working group to aid them as they seek to host the XXXIII edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The group includes the Rome 2024 Bid Committee, along with nine Italian athletes. As a group, they have won a combined total of 13 Olympic medals.

Rome 2024 General Coordinator and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Diana Bianchedi lead a discussion on the bid's next steps during a three-hour meeting at the committee's headquarters. Those present at the meeting included World Fencing Championship gold medalist, Margherita Granbassi; divers Tommaso and Nicola Marconi; four-time Olympian, Alessandra Sensini; sailor Giulia Conti; London 2012 Taekwondo gold medalist, Carlo Molfetta; fencer Valerio Aspromonte; Beijing 2008 Judoka gold medalist, Giulia Quintavalle; and Athens 2004 Water Polo gold medalist, Tania Di Mario.

"With this working group, we want to take advantage of their experience at the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games. This morning we had a constructive dialogue and shared our views on the Rome 2024 bid with the athletes. Their experience is at the center of our project and their contribution is crucial to guarantee that we create the best environment for the athletes that could be here in our city in 2024. Our proposal for the Games aims to provide them with a unique experience from the Athletes' point of view and to let them live for few weeks the Italian way of life," commented Bianchedi.
