(SFC) The Rio 2016 Deodoro equestrian media center received a fright as a military bullet tore through the wall where media were working at lunch time today. Luckily no one was harmed and security is looking into the incident. It landed on the floor near British photographer Jon Stroud. Horse and Hound magazine notes that it was identified as a 5.56mm assault rifle round likely coming from a nearby military training ground. A recruit could have misfired his weapon and caused the accident. Media were surprised that security was not beefed up after the shot someone could have been fatally wounded. Competitions carried on outside.
