(SFC) Former Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (Oaktree) Managing Director, Jim Ford has joined the Los Angeles (LA) 2024 Bid Committee as Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships. Ford brings significant financial expertise to LA 2024.

Before joining the LA 2024 team, Ford spent 20 years at the leading global investment management firm, Oaktree, where he most recently served as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of the Global Principal Group.

Co-Chairman of Oaktree, Howard Marks stated, "Jim is a great leader and top-notch businessman who will no doubt have an immediate and positive impact on Los Angeles' bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics."

In his new role, Ford will work closely with LA 2024 CEO, Gene Sykes and Chairman, Casey Wasserman. He will oversee LA 2024's partnerships with the city's accommodation and world-class sporting venues. Ford will also work on the development of business agreements.

"We're very pleased to welcome Jim to our team to oversee our relationships with our city's world-class sports and accommodation venues, which are uniquely suited to provide the finest experience for athletes, fans and the Olympic Family. Jim's business acumen and financial experience, along with his local knowledge and extensive network as a lifelong Angeleno, will be invaluable to us as we put together the best possible bid to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games back to Los Angeles," expressed Sykes.

He will have a critical role in ensuring that LA maximizes its opportunities afforded by the city's existing accommodating and premier sporting venues. This is a corner stone of LA 2024's Games Plan and allows them to focus their attention on creating the best experience for the athletes.

"Jim is a great champion for athletics and for Los Angeles. His deep passion and commitment will help propel our city and its bid for the 2024 games, further allowing us to convey that Los Angeles is a place with unparalleled facilities and proud and diverse communities ready to welcome the world in eight years," commented UCLA Chancellor, Gene Block.

Children's Bureau of Southern California CEO, Alex Morales said, "Jim has always given his all to every challenge put in front of him to better our L.A. community. His volunteer leadership and contributions to our organization have been tremendous, and I know he will work tirelessly on behalf of LA 2024."

"As an enthusiastic supporter of the Olympic Movement and a Los Angeles native, it's an honor to join this group and contribute my efforts to ensuring that the world's greatest athletes have the chance to compete at our unique and iconic venues," concluded Ford.
