(SFC) LA 2024 Director of Athlete Relations, Janet Evans was joined by over 30 Olympic and Paralympic alumni for LA 2024's second Athlete Town Hall at Chicago's Illinois Center. These meetings are designed to ensure all International and American athletes in the United States (US) have a voice in LA's bid for the 2024 Olympic Games. LA 2024 wants all athletes to be deeply involved with all bid aspects and help LA design a personalized, state-of-the-art experience for athletes.

At the meeting, Olympians and Paralympians of the United States Olympian and Paralympian Association's (USOPA) Midwest chapter head the chance to aid in further developing LA 2024's Games Concept and review proposed venues. They also had the opportunity to represent and promote interests and rights of athletes in the bid's decision-making process; brainstorm ways to promote the positive values of Olympism and sport to youth all over the US and eventually the world; and provide broad feedback on bid activity.

The Athlete Town Hall national tour reflects LA 2024's commitment to having athletes placed at the heart of the bid. This is further showcased by the appointed of Olympian and International Olympic Committee Member, Angela Ruggiero as Chief Strategy Officer of LA 2024. Furthermore, this meeting follows the inaugural Athlete Town Hall meeting that took place in April at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"On behalf of the entire LA 2024 team, I want to thank the Illinois Olympians and Paralympians who joined us at the Chicago Athlete Town Hall and provided us with valuable insights that will help us in our bid to create the most personalized athlete experience in the history of the Games. Athletes are at the heart of our bid, and that's what makes these Athlete Town Halls so important - they ensure that athletes all over the country have a chance to voice their opinions and be heard. I feel energized and encouraged as we continue our Athlete Town Halls in cities across the United States in coming months," expressed Evans

USOPA Vice President, three-time Olympian and bronze medalist, Carol Brown stated, "We are excited to have had the opportunity to learn more about and contribute to LA 2024's vision to create a New Games for a new era. Like LA's innovative, creative community, athletes are always imagining 'what's next' in training and techniques to compete at the highest levels. Working closely with all US and international athletes, as LA 2024 is doing, will be crucial to ensure an LA Games would offer athletes the best possible environment for peak performance."
