Olympics: PyeongChang 2018 expands social media with addition of Instagram account

(SFC) The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) officially launched its Instagram account, today. Instagram is a global mobile platform for social networking, video-sharing, and photo-sharing.

POCOG's Instagram channel is aimed at sharing videos and images that will highlight some fun aspects that the region and the 2018 Games have to offer. The content will be provided in both English and Korean. POCOG hopes to bring the 2018 Games closer to winter sports followers and fans.

"We are very excited to launch the official Instagram account which will boost our online communication.  It will be a powerful tool that enables us to interact with a broader and younger audience around the world.  We will make it a fun and informative channel that can build a positive momentum towards the PyeongChang 2018 Games," expressed POCOG Director General of Communications, Muchol Shin.

To celebrate the milestone, POCOG is holding a "Leave Your Comments" event that will last until April 6th. PyeongChang 2018 Instagram followers are encouraged to promote and share the Games' account.

Instagram currently has over 500 million global users, including five million Korea users. The social media platform as has the highest level of active user participation compared to other social media platforms.
