Olympics: Tokyo 2020 signs on Mitsubishi as 28th sponsor for the Summer Games

(SFC) The Tokyo 2020 organizing committee announced today that they have signed Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Mitsubishi Electric) as their domestic tier partner for "Elevators, Escalators & Moving Walkways" for the Games.

"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Mitsubishi Electric as a Tokyo 2020 Official Partner," said  Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori. "By providing elevators, escalators and moving walkways, Mitsubishi Electric is making a significant contribution to the realization of a barrier-free society and to promoting para-sports.

"Shortly after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the company will be marking its centenary, and Tokyo 2020 is delighted to have such an illustrious partner on board."

Masaki Sakuyama, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, commented on the sponsorship, "It will be a great honor for Mitsubishi Electric to contribute to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as we head toward our centenary year in 2021.

"The whole company will be engaged in promoting sport toward the success of the Tokyo 2020 Games, and we would very much like to support the Games with Mitsubishi Electric elevators, escalators and moving walkways to facilitate the safe, secure and convenient movement of athletes and visitors alike.

Tokyo 2020 has 13 official partners as well on their sponsorship program.

**LAURA WALDEN has over twenty-five years of experience in the Olympic Movement, formerly at the European Olympic Committees with SportEurope under former IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge and IOC Member Mario Pescante. She worked with the Rome 2004 and Turin 2006 Olympic bids and also managed PR & media for Dr. Jacques Rogge during his campaign for the presidency.
