Olympics: Los Angeles 2024 confirms Terrence Burns new Chief Marketing Officer

(SFC) Los Angeles 2024 Candidature Committee announced today that long time Olympic marketing expert Terrence Burns will take the position of Chief Marketing Officer. He will be seconded by Teneo Sports, a global advisory firm currently working with the LA 2024 Candidature Committee.
As CMO Burns will be overseeing the bid's marketing and promotional activities and will work closely LA 2024 Chairman Casey Wasserman, CEO Gene Sykes and the entire bid team and United States Olympic Committee to develop and promote LA 2024's unique brand throughout the Olympic Movement.
LA 2024 Chair Casey Wasserman said, "For the past six
months, Terrence has been a valuable advisor to our team, lending his marketing
savvy and experience with the Olympic Movement to get our young bid off to a
quick start.
"Now we're delighted that Terrence has taken a greater
role in helping us tell our story of a bid that is innovative, creative and
sustainable."

the Games twice before," said Burns.

harness that unique, Californian spirit of reinvention to help the Olympic
Movement create a new Olympic Games for a new Olympic era."
Burns began his career in 1993 as Managing Director of
Olympic Programs for Delta Air Lines, the official airline of the Atlanta 1996
Olympic Games. After that he served as
the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Meridian Management SA, at the time
the exclusive sponsorship and marketing agency of the International Olympic
Committee, who helped them with the IOC's global TOP sponsorship and branding
program.
He has also worked as a consultant for a number of Olympic
bids and helped the sports of golf and wrestling regain their places on the
Olympic Programme. His clientele also includes several Olympic sponsors over
many Olympic Games and currently sits on the United States Luge Association
Board of Directors.
**LAURA WALDEN has over twenty-five years of experience
in the Olympic Movement, formerly at the European Olympic Committees with
SportEurope under former IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge and IOC Member Mario
Pescante. She worked with the Rome 2004 and Turin 2006 Olympic bids and also
managed PR & media for Dr. Jacques Rogge during his campaign for the
presidency.
