(SFC) The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) hosted a "Welcome Day" event to announce and celebrate the official opening of the Jeongseon Alpine Centre which will stage the 2016 AUDI FIS World Cup featuring men's Downhill and Super-G events in two weeks' time.

The opening was led by POCOG President Yang-ho Cho, together with Sports Minister Jong-deok Kim, President of Korea Ski Association Dong-bin Shin, Vice Governor of Gangwon Province Jin-hwan Bae, and FIS Technical Expert Guenter Hujara.  

Around 70 media were also on hand for the launch of the first alpine downhill ski course in Korea which will be used as a venue for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Upcoming test events for the PyeongChang 2018 Games will be held at the Bokwang Phoenix Park: 2016 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup February 18-28, 2016 FIS Snowboard World Cup February 19-27, and 2016 AUDI FIS Ski Cross World Cup February 26-28.
