(SFC) Paris, the City of Lights, is a timeless destination that allows visitors to enjoy its rich history and trendy modern areas all at the same time. One visit alone would not be enough to explore fully all the wonders Paris has to offer. The city has something for everyone who visits.

Paris is currently bidding to host the 2024 summer Olympic Games against Budapest, Los Angeles, and Rome. The IOC will choose its Olympic host city in 2017 in Lima, Peru.

An excellent way to begin one's trip is by visiting the iconic Eiffel Tower, which is known worldwide as the symbol of Paris. Once at the top, visitors will see a beautiful, open view over the city. After taking in the overview of the city, take a river boat docked near the tower and ride down the Seine River all the way to another historic site, the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The cathedral shows the truly inspiring gothic architecture that the city offers. Travelers can also take in historic sites from the Gallo-Roman era by visiting the thermal bath ruins of Thermes de Cluny. Also, make sure visit the Gallo-Roman amphitheater of Arènes de Lutèce.

In addition, the city has numerous museums and theaters. Travelers must make a stop at the famous Louvre museum, where people can view some of the world's most famous artworks. Discover the glamorous side of Paris by taking in a ballet performance at the Palais Garnier. Make sure to take in the opulence of the theater, both inside and out.  When one is done visiting historical sites, museums, and watching great theater performances, one should enjoy the scenic walks offered all over the city. A nice relaxing stroll along the canals of the La Villette Canal Basin or the Saint-Martin would be perfect. The channels offer beautiful views and give visitors a chance to explore what canal life is all about. The Saint-Martin Canal is a perfect spot to grab some lunch after a long day of sightseeing. One can visit the many wonderful bistros that line the canal.

There is something for everyone when it comes to finding food in Paris. The city invites all to have a feast in the "Capital of Gastronomy." It is the perfect chance for travelers to try in foods while still having the comfort of their favorite foods within reach. When one is full of food, then it is time to fill some shopping bags. Paris offers visitors can to shop to their hearts desire, whether they are looking for luxury items, antiques, designer or ready to wear clothes. One won't go home empty-handed after taking a stroll through the Paris shopping districts.

The vast city has many things to offer travelers, and it can become overwhelming. Fortunately, Paris has a variety of transportation options. Visitors can use the metro, public buses, taxis, boats, bicycles, and more, which makes the entire city within reach.

The city of Paris is a magical place that captures the hearts of all that visit. If the city wins the nod to host the 2024 Olympics, Paris will captivate the world with its beauty and picturesque Olympic Games.
