Paris 2024 learns valuable lessons from 2024 Candidature Process Workshop and gets right to work at the EOC General Assembly

(SFC) After attending the 2024 Candidature Process Workshop this week in Lausanne, the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee thanked the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for hosting the workshop. Paris 2024's delegation learned a variety of critical things about the IOC's vision for the 2024 Games.

They also learned how important sustainable development and ensuring the project is linked to the city and country's long-term goals. The two-day workshop allowed Paris 2024's delegation to share ideas and receive feedback from the IOC. IOC Member and Paris 2024 Co-President, Tony Estanguet led the delegation.

President Estanguet stated, "The workshop delivered by the IOC in Lausanne was extremely valuable for our delegation. This was a key milestone for our bid, enabling us to share our vision and plans and receive key information, expertise and important feedback from the IOC."

He added, "We are continually listening and learning as we begin to lay out our plans, and it is vital that we check our strategy with the IOC and key Olympic Stakeholders to ensure that we totally understand the needs of the Olympic Movement.

"As we continue to come to terms with the tragic events of last week in Paris our thoughts remain with those who have been profoundly affected. These horrific events have strengthened our resolve and determination to host an amazing Games for the world in 2024, help promote positive Olympic values and spread the message of peace through sport," concluded President Estanguet.

In addition, Paris 2024 has a senior delegation in Prague, Czech Republic attending the European Olympic Committees (EOC) General Assembly November 20-21.

The Paris 2024 team includes:

        ·         IOC Member and Co-President, Tony Estanguet

        ·         Paris 2024 Director of International Relations, Sophie Lorant

        ·         IOC Member, Guy Drut

        ·         French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) Director of International          Relations, Marc Chevrier

        ·         CNOSF General Secretary, Jean-Michel Brun

        ·         CNOSF President, Denis Masseglia

The Deputy Mayor of Paris, Jean-Francois Martins also joined the delegation.

"We are honored to be here in Prague for the EOC General Assembly, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to discuss our vision for Paris 2024 with key stakeholders in the Olympic Movement," expressed Co-President Lapasset.

He commented, "We have been finalizing our proposed venues, and we recently confirmed the location for our Olympic and Paralympic Games Village and Media Village and our plans for the 2024 Games are advancing well. We are here to listen and learn from NOC colleagues in Europe and the Olympic Family as we process these key decisions - ensuring NOCs are offered the best environment to prepare their athletes for world-class performances."
