(SFC) The International Federation (IF) Forum ninth edition held in Lausanne, Switzerland focused on Governance in Sport. This year's Forum had a record number of delegates attend, and its program received some considerable interest.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach gave the Welcome Address. He finished by telling attendees to make the most of this opportunity. Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and SportAccord Convention President, Francesco Ricci Bitti acknowledged that the role of international sport federations has evolved over the years and requires a sophisticated approach. An approach that would respond to the growing awareness of sport, economically, along with the social and education values.

News Crop's Head of Global Rights, Simon Greenberg, delivered the Keynote Address titled, "Change or be Regulated."  He gave a frank account of how the media was very close to being regulated and what happens when good governance is not applied.

He stated afterwards, "Sport certainly needs to adopt many of the good corporate disciplines from other sectors such as the financial services industry, and if they do that, I think they will go a long way to possibly repairing their image in the eyes of certain stakeholders and indeed the public."

Delegates heard perspectives from the European Union and the IOC. International Sport Federations took part in practice sessions that provided them the chance for debate and exchange. Also, the IOC launched the IF Sustainability Best Practice Project that will be implemented next year.

IF Forum's sponsors Repucom, JLT Sport, and Penceo shared insights, while Marc Vuilleumier, Municipal Councillor welcomed the delegates on behalf of Canton of Vaud and the City of Lausanne.

This year's IF Forum was sponsored by SportAccord Convention and held at the newly renovated Hotel Royal Savoy from November 11-13, 2015.
