(SFC) To strengthen their online presence in the Chinese market, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games (POCOG) has announced the launch of the official Chinese website and Weibo social media account. Weibo is one of China's most renowned Social Network Service (SNS) platform.

POCOG is looking to attract the interest of China's 1.3 billion population, along with raising awareness for the Winter Games. This is a significant boost to POCOG's online promotion of the Winter Games in China. China is known to have the world's biggest nation in terms of the number of internet users, which is around 650 million users. It was also recently awarded the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The new services for the Chinese market will help strengthen POCOG's online promotions through real-time communication with the growing winter sports fans in China. It will also provide a variety of information about the 2018 Games.

In addition, a special event will be held up to October 31st to celebrate the launch of the new website and Weibo account. Weibo users are encouraged to promote the 2018 Games' account through the use of their own. Those who excel at promoting POCOG's new account will be presented with some gifts.

Director of POCOG Communications, Muchol Shin stated, "We are very pleased to unveil the Chinese official website and the operation of the Weibo account today. Through these new channels, we will provide a wealth of information about PyeongChang 2018, actively communicate with winter sports fans in China, and engage the interest and participation of Chinese public in 2018 Olympic Winter Games."
