(SFC) The Confédération Mondiale Sport Boules (CMSB) officially launched their Olympic bid today at SPORTELMonaco for inclusion in the 2024 Games. The 2024 Summer Games are currently in the bidding process so it is not certain who will be the final host city. Budapest, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome are all in the running and should Paris take the nod that would boost the CMSB campaign. Boules bears a resemblance to bocce that is played in Italy.

According to the new Olympic Agenda 2020 rules sports can submit candidatures but the final host city has the ability to choose those that they deem a fit with their national practices, popularity and crowd appeal. Then they are put before the IOC for a final decision.

Today the CMSB President, Claude AzĂ©ma, accompanied by the presidents of CBI, Romolo Rizzoli, and FIB, Christian Lacoste, were all on hand to explain that the plan included three disciplines: the French petanque, the Boule Lyonnaise and the Raffa.

The CMSB was founded in Monaco on December 21, 1985, and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 15, 1986, in Lausanne.

The organization counts member federations in 106 countries and is played in the World Games, the Mediterranean Games, the Commonwealth Games, the Games of the Small States of Europe, the S.E.A. Games and the Indian Ocean Games.
