Olympics: PyeongChang 2018 signs domestic partnership with SK to be official partner for semiconductors and oil

(SFC) The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) announced that they have signed SK as a Tier 1 partner for "semiconductors and oil" categories.

A signing ceremony was held in Seoul on September 25 and now SK will be able to 1) use of the "Official Partner" designation, 2) use of the Games Emblem in promotional activities and 3) have showcasing rights in the Olympic site.

POCOG President Yang-ho Cho said at the signing, "SK group has been actively supporting sports development in Korea. We deeply appreciate SK Group's decision to join the sponsorship program and we are confident that the continued support from the Korean business community will help us deliver successful Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."

Young-tae Kim, President of SK Group's SUPEX Council Communication Committee, added, "It is our pleasure to contribute to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, which will be a significant national event as well as a global festival where everyone from around the world can participate and enjoy. We will provide our full support to help make PyeongChang 2018 successful."

The SK Group is known as a strong supporter of international world class sporting events that have been held in Korea such as the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 and the Universiade Gwangju 2015.

The group also built a handball exclusive gymnasium and donated the facility to further the sport of handball's development in South Korea.
