(SFC) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission is carrying out its ninth perusal visit and chair Nawal El Moutawakel addressed leaders of the Rio 2016 Organising Committee and the federal, state and city governments at the Rio 2016 headquarters.

She gave encouraging remarks to the organizers pronouncing that the works for the Rio 2016 Games were at a good point however she also stressed that "the best is yet to come".

Rio fell under criticism for being late with preparations last year and have been under much pressure to get up to speed. She lauded organizers for progress with the test events, sponsorship programme, progress in venue construction and firm public backing

"You are on the right track, you have achieved great success," said Chairman El Moutawakel.

"Your marketing programme has brought some of the finest companies in Brazil to support the Olympic Games. You are delivering the venues on time and these venues will leave a great legacy to future generations.

"The test events have been well received by athletes and international federations. There has been a lot of interest in ticket sales and the Olympic torch relay. Public support for the Games in strong. These are major achievements that have required hard work and integration between partners.

"So congratulations to all involved so far in this wonderful journey. There is still a lot of work to come, but I am confident that the best is yet to come," she concluded.

The IOC will be in town August 10-12 to receive and see updates on construction and all aspects of Games preparation and tour the venues.
