(SFC) Kazakh national hero, Champion of Four Continents Figure Skating Championship 2015, 2014 Sochi Olympic medalist, and Almaty 2022 Bid Ambassador, Denis Ten organized the spectacular third edition, annual ice show, "Denis Ten and Friends." Almaty had the great honor of hosting the event. Famous foreign masters of figure skating from the United States, China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, and Canada were among Denis' friends.

Denis Ten designed the show to aid his hometown in the race for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games. "Salem, Almaty!," was the show's title, which is Kazakh for "Hello, Almaty!" The primary concept of the event was to showcase Kazakhstan's unique culture that unites the multicultural participants.

The Baluan Sholak Stadium, which is one of the proposed venues for Almaty 2022, housed the ice show. South Korean star, Park So-youn opened the show with a blazing dance. Also for the first time on Almaty ice, an extraordinary performance was given by Olympic silver medalists Jian Tong and Qing Pang from China. Other participants included World and Olympic Games Champions; Joanie Rochette, Stephane Lambiel, Jean-Denis Sanchis, Aleksander Liubchenko, Maxim Trankov, and Tatyana Volosozhar.

Denis Ten stated, "We had a very balanced group of participants - a unique constellation of three generations - a generation of icons, present stars, and future champions. Each of these great athletes is a unique personality, and all from around the world."

The Symphony Orchestra of Almaty accompanied all the performances, and the audience enjoyed a full display of vivid visual effects. Denis Ten even performed his very own Olympic program routine to the accompaniment of "Turan," an ethnic-folklore Kazakhstani group.

"This year's show was staged by the famous choreographer from Canada, Shae-Lynn Bourne.  She is not only a well-known figure skater and world champion in ice dancing but also has a vast performance staging experience. She has been involved in such major projects as the Stars on Ice in China and All That Skate in Korea, has worked with many Canadian projects," commented Denis Ten.

However, the highlight was the final number, which for the past three years, has remained the same. The orchestra's music accompanied all the participants on the ice, who were dressed in Kazakh national costumes. The performance reflected Kazakhstan's culture, remarked Denis.

Spectators traveled from all over Kazakhstan to enjoy the ice show. Foreign attendees from Russia, South Korea, China, and Japan were also in attendance to show their support.

Denis Ten concluded, "'Denis and friends' is an entirely Kazakhstani project, and gaining its popularity abroad. This is a direct reference to an interest towards our culture, our country. The Ice Show was a dream come true three years ago. But now I, and everybody in Kazakhstan has an even bigger dream - to host 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Almaty. As a passionate ambassador of our bid, I hope my show will help us to win this race and also show, that winter sports in all facets, from figure skating to alpine skiing, from cross-country to ski jumping, are part of our daily life. Almaty is a true winter city with experienced fans. That´s what athletes like and need, short distances, great venues with experienced staff and a lot of passion by the people in a winter sports city with a stunning backdrop."
