(SFC) Beijing Week closed last week at Italy's world exposition, Expo Milano 2015. It concluded with the promotion of Beijing's candidacy for the 2022 Games.

An audience of Expo visitors enjoyed hearing the theme song of Beijing's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics "Heart," which was sung by Chinese freestyle aerial skier, Li Nina.

Li Nina told Xinhua, "As an athlete of winter sports, I particularly wish that the 2022 Winter Olympic Games to be held in my home country China."

Li has won two Olympic silver medals and participated in four Winter Olympics from 2002 to 2014. Le has also taken part in the 2006 Turin Games.

In the landscape garden outside the Chinese Pavilion, Expo Milano 2015 visitors were shown the exhibitions of Beijing's bid. The show displayed results achieved by Chinese athletes and photos of the winter venues.

Annalisa Wagner, School Director of the Dante Alighieri Institute near the area, visited the exhibition with a group of students. Wagner expressed to Xinhua, "Today our students are getting to know a lesser known face of China."

Wagner added, "China deserves special attention. We brought as many as 890 elementary and middle school students from our institute to the Expo today. Many of our students are Chinese, and it is particularly exciting for them to be here."

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission's assessment report on Beijing's bid underlined their huge winter sport potential, earlier this week.

The report also confirmed that the Beijing bid has the essential elements in place to host a very successful 2022 Olympic Winter Games. The report's assessment is based on the city's expertise and experience from hosting the 2014 Youth Olympics Games in Nanjing and the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.

The IOC will make their decision for the 2022 Olympic Games host city between Beijing and Almaty, Kazakhstan on July 31st.
