Rio 2016: President Dilma Rousseff to be more involved in the preparations of the Olympic Games to boost the benefits for Brazil

(SFC) Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has said that as the Olympic Games approach she will be making regular trips into Rio De Janeiro to assist with preparations and organization of the Rio 2016 Games. "I promised President Carlos Arthur Nuzman, and our objective is to integrate ourselves more deeply," she mentioned this to emphasize the importance that the state government, and especially city hall have in staging the biggest sporting event on the planet

This declaration was made the afternoon of May 12th during a visit to the headquarters of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee. Accompanied by high ranking figures such as Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão, Mayor Eduardo Paes, and acting Minister for Sport, Ricardo Leyser, the president was welcomed by Carlos Arthur Nuzman, acting president of the organizing committee and the Brazilian Olympic committee. Also in attendance of this meeting regarding the 2016 Games was Chief Executive Officer Sidney Levy and the Rio 2016 Executive Board.

According to Rousseff, the upcoming Games are a vital event for the global image of Brazil, she believes it will greatly enhance the country's image. "I am certain that Brazil will host a perfect Games", she confirmed. President Rousseff also said that she needs to clearly articulate the legacy that the city of Rio and the country of Brazil will enjoy through hosting and staging the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
