USOC and CoSport announce ticket sales for Rio 2016 Olympic Games are open

(SFC) It was announced today, by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and CoSport that individual tickets for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will be available starting at 10 a.m. ET, exclusively through cosport.com. The Rio 2016 Organizing Committee has appointed CoSport as the sole authorized ticket reseller in the United States.

The world will be brought together in Rio de Janeiro on August 5th, 2016 to celebrate the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Then 16 days of competition will follow in one of the most unique destinations in Brazil.

United States residents are invited to create an account on cosport.com and submit a non-binding ticket request by 2 p.m. ET on May 4th, in order to secure individual tickets in part with the initial sales phase. Ticket request submitted successfully before the deadline will be given equal consideration, regardless of when the request was submitted within the initial phase. Those who are truly interested should first consider the venue locations, budget, event schedule and other important factors, before submitting their request. Once the request phase ends, changes are not permitted.

CoSport will confirm which of the requested tickets will be offered, once they established an inventory and then they will be offered for purchase on May 11th. Payment must be processed by 2 p.m. ET on May 15th. Another opportunity to purchase tickets will occur on a first come, first serve basis starting at 10 a.m. ET on May 19th.

In the coming weeks, CoSport will exclusively offer hotel and ticket packages on their website for the American public. The exact date and time will be posted on the site and communicated to account holders of CoSport.

CoSport President, Robert F. Long stated, "CoSport has a deep knowledge of Brazil and is preparing to welcome fans of Team USA with an exciting variety of Individual Ticket and Package options."
