(SFC) The Board of the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award', has chosen HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, who is known as the High Patron of Peace and Sport, as the 'International Sports Figure' of 2014. The award is a true honor, which will place him among the most prestigious in the world of sports. Previous recipients of this honor were, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in 2013, and former IOC President Jacques Rogge in 2012.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco is being rewarded for his contribution to the development of sporting practice throughout the world, and peace through sport. His Serene Highness, is the only Head of State who is an IOC Member, National Olympic Committee (NOC) President, and five-time Olympian. Since 2007, he has been a Patron of Peace and Sport, while supporting the development of structured sport and the values as a vector for education to the younger generations. Thus, fostering reconciliation, dialogue, and social stability between communities.

“This award is, above all, a highly deserved recognition for an exceptional man who, while exercising his many responsibilities, has dedicated his role as an athlete first, and as ruler and leader second, to the advancement of sport throughout the world.  Through this prestigious award given to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, the entire peace through sport movement is rewarded for its work.  It also demonstrates that peace through sport is growing worldwide. Recognizing our movement in Dubai, at the heart of a rapidly changing Middle East, further drives and inspires our actions,” stated Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport.

Peace and Sport, one of the leaders of the peace through sport movement, held a forum in 2013 in Dubai. The forum explored the positive impact of sport, and the changes which were taking place in the Arab world. The initiative attached 19 sports federations, 16 governments, international athletes, and various IOC members, who are all invested in the peace through sport movement.

Others awarded by the 2014 'Creative Sports Award', were Chief Executive of the Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who was named 'Local Sports Personality.' The President of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohammad Raouraoua was chosen as 'Arab Sports Personality', and the 'Arab Sports Figure contributing to the enrichment of women's sport' was Rania Elwani, Peace and Sport Champion for Peace.

On January 14, 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Center, the awards will be officially presented.
