(SFC) North Korean Olympic Committee Vice President and Secretary General Sohn Kwang-ho submitted the list of 70 male and 80 female athletes to participate in the Incheon Asian Games next month, along with a letter to the Olympic Council of Asia.

Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee President Kim Young-Soo said the materials were sent last Wednesday, Aug. 13, outlining the athletes competing in 14 sports, including men and women’s football, swimming, archery, athletics, boxing, judo, gymnastics, shooting, table tennis, karate, weightlifting, wrestling, canoeing, and rowing.

The rivalry between Lee Se-Kwang and South Korean Yang Hak-Seon will take centre stage next month in the archery competition, while Park Kwang-Ryong of Switzerland’s FC Basel will lead the men’s football team.

“North Korean entries are mainly comprised of the sports that they have performed traditionally well,” an Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee official said.

IAGOC will screen entries from each participating country before seeking final approval from the Olympic Council of Asia. The Incheon 2014 Asian Games will be held 19 Sept. through 4 Oct.
