(SFC) The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) convened in downtown Seoul and officially approved Cho Yang-ho as the new president after the sudden resignation of Kim Jin-sun last week. The organization wasted no time in appointing a successor showing their commitment to go forward with the Games planning.

"The PyeongChang 2018 Games is a historic project, which will present a more developed Korea to the world,” said Cho to the media. “I'll devote myself to organizing a successful Games, using my knowledge and experience as head of PyeongChang 2018's bid committee."

When the Games were awarded to PyeongChang in Durban at the 2011 IOC Session the 65 year old Cho was at the helm of the bid committee and comes from a business background as Chairman of the Hanjin Group, he is also the vice-president of the Korean Olympic Committee and the Korean Table Tennis Federation.

Hanjin Group also includes Korean Air and its cost effective subsidy airline Jin Air so he has a good strong business background.

The next step will be the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism must approve the organizing committee’s decision.
