(SFC) The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee celebrated a six-year countdown to the 2020 Olympic Summer Games Thursday with an #InsideTokyo2020 social media campaign.

Tokyo 2020 will share behind-the-scenes photos and videos of those helping to make the Olympics a reality, such as Olympic hammer throw champion and Tokyo 2020 Sports Director Koji Murofushi, on its official Games Facebook page and new English-language Twitter account (@Tokyo2020) Thursday, 24 July, only.

“This is a very special day for Japan,” Tokyo 2020 Communications Director Masa Takaya said. “On this day in 2020, the Olympic Games will open in Tokyo for the second time in the city’s history. This is the first exciting and symbolic milestone in our journey toward the 2020 Games.

“On this occasion, we are launching our English Twitter account, @tokyo2020, to engage the conversation with fans and supporters from the entire world. And our first action is to send an invitation and share our excitement about the Tokyo Games.”
