(SFC) Site visits for three possible host cities for the 13th annual SportAccord Convention have been completed, SportAccord Convention announced Thursday. SportAccord Convention is also holding talks with multiple cities in Brazil to host the Convention for the first time in the host country of the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup and Rio 2016 Olympic Summer Games.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Durban, South Africa, and Sochi, Russia – the three cities SportAccord Convention President Marcus Vizer mentioned as possible hosts at the 12th SportAccord Convention in Belek/Antalya, Turkey, earlier this year – were each visited.

Vizer also spoke of plans to expand the Convention to welcome more delegates and exhibitors, as well as members of the National Federations and National Olympic Committees, to join the International Federations.

“Our site visits are assessments which take into account the increased size of the Convention as it moves forward,” SportAccord Convention Managing Director Nis Hatt said. “We are excited to be in the privileged position of having so many cities interested in hosting our event and are looking forward to making an announcement very soon about where the 2015 Convention will be held.”

EUROVISION’s WorldFeed Service and WorldLink on-demand platform provided updates from Belek/Antalya during this year’s Convention, while video was accessible to international broadcasters to ensure the sports world, whether in attendance or not, could benefit from the largest gathering of sports leaders.
