(SFC) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has appointed Japanese Olympic Committee President Tsunekazu Takeda chairman of its Marketing Commission Wednesday.

“The IOC Marketing Commission plays a vital role in securing the IOC’s revenue sources, and while I am of course extremely honoured to have been appointed as Chair of this commission by IOC President Thomas Bach, I am acutely aware of the importance of and the responsibilities that come with the position,” Takeda said.

“I am fully committed to leveraging the experience I have gained thus far, and will exert my utmost efforts to further ensuring stable and secure sources of revenue for the IOC and to further promoting the Olympic Movement.”

Takeda will remain with the IOC Coordination Commission for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games while taking on the duties of the IOC’s Marketing Commission chairman.

“I am looking forward to leading this Commission at an interesting time when the Olympic Movement discusses its future through the Olympic Agenda 2020 process.”
