(SFC) The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Executive Board met Wednesday to complete the Board’s composition with the new appointments of six vice presidents, three senior executive board members and a director general.

The Executive Board also agreed to three main points of emphasis for the 2014 fiscal year, including the formulation of a Games foundation plan and promotion of stead preparations. The plan will come from discussions with the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, and other stakeholders. Marketing and strategic communications activities will also focus on promotion of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements. The final point was to strengthen the headquarters’ capabilities and to establish a solid financial base, with the fiscal year 2014 headquarters budget set at USD $24.3 million.

Toyota Motor Corporation President and Keidanren Committee on Promotion of Sports Chairman Akio Toyoda, Minister in Charge of Sports and Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Senior Vice Minister Yoshitaka Sakurada, Japan Sports Council President Ichiro Kono, International Olympic Committee Member and Japanese Olympic Committee President Tsunekazu Takeda, International Paralympic Committee Governing Board Member, Japan Sports Association for the Disabled Director and Japan Sports Association Director Yasushi Yamawaki, and Tokyo Vice Governor Toshiyuki Akiyama were elected vice presidents of the Executive Board.

Daiwa Institute of Research Chairman and Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Chairman Toshiro Muto was elected Executive Board director general.

Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Chief Operations Officer and former Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Sports and Youth Bureau Director General Yukihiko Nunomura, Japanese Olympic Committee Vice President Hirobumi Kawano, and Credit Guarantee of Tokyo Chairman and President and former Tokyo Vice Governor Hiroshi Sato were elected senior executive board members.

“Today’s meeting of the Executive Board enabled us to get off to the ideal start as the highest decision-making body of the organising committee,” Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games President Yoshiro Mori said. “The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will serve as an exciting new target for the young people of japan to strive towards, and will provide a major boost for the whole of society.

“All members of our ‘All Japan’ Executive Board are firmly committed and looking forward to exerting their utmost efforts to ensure the resounding success of the Games.”

Tokyo was awarded the 2020 Olympic Summer Games last year at the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, beating Madrid and Istanbul.
