(SFC) PyeongChang received the Olympic Flag at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Closing Ceremony Sunday, 23 February.

A three-part cultural performance was also given by PyeongChang at Fisht Olympic Stadium entitled “Awakening of PyeongChang,” Dreaming together of PyeongChang,” and “A Journey Together Towards New Horizons.”

“Our cultural performance embodies PyeongChang 2018’s vision of New Horizons, and it will be presented under the theme of ‘A Journey Together,’ telling a story of traditional Korean beauty and spirit,” PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games President J.S. Kim said.

“This performance, which is a modern interpretation of Korea’s cultural heritage using cutting-edge technology, has present both the unique beauty of Korean culture and the potential for its globalisation,” the programme’s executive director, Yoon Ho-jin said. “It is a very meaningful performance, which gives a taste of what is to come at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.”

Korean musicians like opera singer Sumi Jo, jazz singer Na Yoon-sun, pop singer Lee Seung-cheoi, and gayageym musician Lee Jong-gil performed at the Closing Ceremony, which included the Republic of Korea’s national anthem sung by a PyeongChang Children’s choir.

Ho-jin was supported as executive director of the cultural programme by dance director Ahn Ae-sun, music director Tang Bang-eon, costume director Lim Sun-ok, art director Lim Chung-il and visual director Bae Il-hwan.
