(SFC) PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games President and Chief Executive Officer Kim Jin-Sun held a press conference at the Main Press Center in Sochi ahead of the handover moment of the Sochi 2014 Closing Ceremony as PyeongChang is set to take the Olympic Host City baton.

Kim was joined at the Main Press Center by POCOG Vice President and Secretary General Moon Donghoo, PyeongChang 2018 Handover Ceremony & Artistic Segment Executive Director Yoon Ho-jin, Gangwon Province Vice Governor Kim Jeongsam and PyeongChang Mayor Lee Seok-rae. POCOG Spokesperson Kang Minji moderated the press conference.

“Our vision is very clear: new horizons, developing industries, building a hub of winter sports in Gangwon province,” Kim said. “Our Games will also be a Games of culture, environment and peace.

“When we receive the Olympic flag [Sunday], PyeongChang essentially begins. We will get the whole world on board.”

“The PyeongChang 2018 Handover Ceremony and Artistic Segment will deliver a story under the theme of “A Journey Together,”” Yoon said. “We have a team of the best directors in Korea and world-renown cast members for the Artistic Segment, and will showcase Korea’s unique artistic aura to the world.”

“The Republic of Korea is one of the world’s safest countries,” Kim said of event security. “However, considering the special nature of the Olympics, a security committee headed by the prime minister is already in operation.”

Sochi Mayor Anatoliy Nikolayevich Pakhomov will hand the Olympic Flag to PyeongChang Mayor Lee during the Sochi 2014 Closing Ceremony Sunday. The flag will then head to Korea, where it will be displayed at the city’s Municipal office.
