(SFC) Korean Air Chairman Yang Ho Cho was named a 2013 Eddy Awards honoree by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for his contributions to Los Angeles through his airline, shipping and real estate enterprises.

Since 1996, the Eddy Awards have been awarded to celebrate individuals and organisations demonstrating special contributions to positive economical development in the community.

Cho made a sizeable investment in building a world-class hotel and office project at the location of the former Wilshire Grand hotel, which should infuse $1 billion into the local economy and produce nearly 11,000 temporary and 1,750 permanent jobs.

“Korean Air and Hanjin have played an important role in the partnership between Korea and Los Angeles, and we are proud to be part of L.A.’s future success,” Cho said during the ceremony.

“The 2013 Eddy Awards recognise Yang Ho Cho’s person connection with Los Angeles and his continuing and lasting positive influence on regional economic development.”

Cho is also a Trustee of the University of Southern California, where he has created opportunities for international exchanges of technology, knowledge and skills.
