(SFC) HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein was elected president of the Jordan Olympic Committee at the JOC General Assembly at Al Hussein Sport City Monday.

Eighteen members of the Jordan Olympic Committee – the umbrella organisation for sport in Jordan – were elected to the Board and will serve those positions until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The election process took two months at each of Jordan’s national sporting federations. The elections – voted on in front of members of the media - formed a General Assembly for the JOC.

“I am looking forward to serving the Jordan sporting family again over the coming three years and continuing the excellent progress that has been made,” HRH Prince Feisal said. “I urge all of our sporting federations to work hard to enable sport to play a key role in the lives of all Jordanians.”

Elected a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2010, HRH Prince Feisal has been JOC President since 2003.

HRH Prince Feisal is among five distinguished members on the JOC Board, 10 members from sporting federations that compete in the Olympics, two from non-Olympic sports and two former Olympic athletes who competed at the past three Olympic Games.
