OLYMPICS BREAKING: Tokyo to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games

(SFC) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has chosen Tokyo to host the 2020 Olympics in a vote this afternoon at the session in Buenos Aires beating Istanbul in the final round to take the golden ring.
Tokyo won with 60 votes over Istanbul 36 in the final ballot.
The Japanese city is bidding on their second consecutive campaign after they lost to Rio for the 2016 Games.
Tokyo was running against Madrid and Istanbul and the Spanish capital was eliminated after a tie-breaker between Istanbul and Madrid in the first round vote. Istanbul and Madrid both had 26 votes with Tokyo taking 42 votes.
A second round cliffhanger ballot decided its fate to go forward. Madrid lost with 45 votes to Istanbul's 49 votes.
Tokyo 2020 will follow the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games.
