(SFC) Residents and visitors to Sochi will be able to enjoy the sounds of the best jazz musicians from Russia and the United States at the fourth-annual “Aquajazz – Sochi Jazz Festival” from 1-4 August during the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad. The festival will be hosted by famous jazz musician and Sochi 2014 Ambassador Igor Butman.

The best Russian jazz groups will take the same stage as the quintet of trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and 10-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group Take 6, American jazz vocalist and singer Zenia McPherson and Broadway performer Katie Jenkins in Sochi.

Oleg Akkuratov, a partially-sighted musician, will also be among the Russian jazz stars at Aquajazz. He performed in St. Petersburg in front of Pope John Paul II and in a concert with opera singer Montserrat Caballe as a participant in the UNESCO World Children’s Choir.

Butman opened the festival by leading a jazz parade in the “Riviera” park. He will perform in a gala concert – “Igor Butman and Future Stars” – 3 August and direct a jam session of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra the final night of the Festival. Chamber concerts will be held at the Winter Theatre from 2-4 August.
