(SFC) The third International Olympic Committee (IOC) technical session for Olympic Bids gets started in Lausanne this morning at the Beaulieu Convention Center.

Today’s program is a full board of 2020 Summer Olympics bid cities presentations with Istanbul taking the first slot this morning to present their plan to the IOC members.

Next up will be Tokyo then after the break for the midday session Madrid will be featured in the afternoon.

Today the official presentations are taking place to inform all the 100 members of the IOC that will be making decisions at the 2013 vote.

Since the IOC abolished member visits to the bid cities members have not been able to visit the cities that are campaigning for the Games. The idea was launched during the 2016 bid process to host in neutral ground Lausanne a meeting to gather all the members to meet with the bid cities and it proved a resounding success for both parties.

Today also the four athletes that were elected as IOC members by their peers at the London 2012 Games will be sworn in as full members. They are Danka Bartekova from Slovakia (shooting), James Tomkins from Australia (rowing), Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe (aquatics) and Tony Estanguet from France (canoe-kayak).
