Chancellor Merkel, Thomas Bach and President Obama attend dinner in Berlin

(SFC) German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited United States President Barack Obama to an official dinner at the Charlottenburg castle in Berlin during the American’s visit to Germany this week.

About 120 American and German guests were invited, including DOSB President Thomas Bach and his wife Claudia, representing Germanys biggest civil organisation. Dirk Nowitzki of the National Basketball Association’s Dallas Mavericks and the flag bearer of the German Olympic Team 2008 was also in attendance.

“President Obama is a true sports fan,” Bach said. “It was good to experience his appreciation for sports.”

President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and other high-ranking members of the President’s delegation were in attendance in Berlin.
